# Signing a Participant Up for a Makeup Class

A client wants to make up a lesson they missed? The easiest option is for them to [find a suitable slot themselves in the Client Panel](/en/client-panel/reporting-absence.md).

If the date was agreed individually or the client can't sign up on their own, you can record it in the system yourself. ActiveNow lets you do this in two ways.

## From the calendar

Select the lesson and click *Lesson details*. Find the *Making up absences* section, type the participant's name, and click *+Add*.

## From the participant's profile

Go to the *Participants* tab and open the participant's profile. Find the *Making up absences* section, click *Find a reclaiming date*, then click *Sign up for reclaiming* next to the lesson you want to add them to.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.activenow.io/en/absences-and-makeup-classes/adding-client-to-makeup-class.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
